I really hated to see the Crocodile Hunter get killed. He really seemed like a great guy. He was a man's man. My condolences go out to his family.

Thursday night is the 111 lap race. I can hardly wait. I have some major changes to make before then. It is going to be a busy night in the garage tonight.

Bad Night at the Race Track

Saturday night we had made some suspension changes to the Mercury Topaz and were excited to get to the track and try them out. We got to the Speedrome and unloaded the race car for practice. The car sure was fast in practice, I thought that I had a feature winner. It was not to be though, there was a pileup in the heat race that I made it through and got the last transfer spot. Then the feature, after about 5 laps my race car fell on its face. It had no power. I think I have my spark plugs gapped to far. I took them to .060 and I think that this is causing me to run hot and losing power. I will go down to .040 and see if the helps. Anyone have any suggestions?

I made a lot of changes to the race car. It made a world of difference. We had more horse power out of the engine and finally got the car to turn. This week we are putting in some more camber on the right front tire, plus we are going to put in some caster in the right front tire to. Wish us good luck at the races this weekend.

Front Wheel Drive Circle Track Car

I have owned, worked on, or sponsored about every kind of race car out there from an ARCA ReMax car, latemodel, street stock, and modified. Now I have decided to climb behind the wheel myself and race a hornet at the Indianapolis Speedrome. The Hornet racing class is a 4 cylinder stock class. Most cars are front wheel drive (they also have some big money races that you have to be front wheel drive). I have built a 1993 Mercury Topaz with a 2.3L. I have had the car out once and found that I have a bad push. I have no experience in racing with a front wheel drive but here is what I am planning to do to fix it. I am going to stiffen up the right front corner a little bit (it was rolling over). I am going to stiffen up the back all the way across and raise the rear air pressures. I am going to stiffen up the left front a little more than the right front. I am putting camber in the right front. I am going to start around 2.5 to 3.0 degrees of camber and try that. I am going to put about 2 degrees in the right rear. I am also going to steer the rear tires to the right running about 1/4 inch of toe out in the rear with the right rear tire pointing out about 1/2 an inch. I am also going to put about 1/4 inch of toe out in the front tires. We run on a concrete flat 1/5 mile track on street tires (70 series) does anyone have any suggestions on what to try or not to try? Thanks

Saturday Night Racing

I love auto racing, all kinds of racing. If it has an engine and races I love it. I love everything about it. I love working on race cars (if it is a street car forget, I take those to a shop), I love trying to figure them out and make them faster. Just recently after several years of owning race cars, sponsoring race cars and working on race cars, I finally got to drive. It is a Mercury Topaz and races in the Hornet class at the Speedrome. It really is fun. I would recommed it to anyone that has ever dreamed of racing. It is totally awesome. I do love all kinds of racing from NASCAR, IRL, Sprint Car racing, USAC, Champ Car and about everthing else, but I believe that the future in racing starts at the Saturday night race track. Please share your thoughts on here on your own racing or racing dreams. Talk to you soon.
